BACKGROUND
That day we had planned a trip to the House of Blues Anaheim
with the sole intention of visiting the concert venue to see August Burns Red.
Along with our fellow die hard ABR fan Yaris J
who is our FIRST special guest on our blog!!!! YAY!!!!
Yaris, while going to pick up her tickets at will call on an
earlier night, discovered that spending $20 at Crossroads guarantees you a
“Pass the line” voucher. This was a particularly good deal seeing as the line
was at 600 people when we had arrived. SO we decided to take the deal and thus
created our unexpected dinning experience at Crossroads.
APPERANCE
This picture doesn’t really do justice as to how small this
restaurant is. The door to the left is the entrance of the restaurant and the
door to the right is the gift shop, add in a moderately sized bar inside and
you have a relatively small dinning room(Note: the entire upstairs is the
balcony for the venue, which also takes up a vast majority to the rear end of
the bulding).
SERVICE & FOOD (PRICES)
As far as service goes, we had an excellent experience along
with promptly being seated and served. Our waitress was pretty cool. Her
attituted was cheerful and welcoming. Something we value is honesty in a
waiter/waitress, which she was. According to her The Citrus Chicken and Fried
chicken are the plates to ignore in the menu. Despite that, here are our food
selections.
NADIA: I
went for the BBQ Baccon Burger ($13.99).
This is a messy burger to eat but oh so delicious. It comes
on a potato bread bun and inside is the perfectly made patty with bacon on top
slathered in bbq sauce. The veggies (tomato, lettuce, and onion) come on the
side so you can add to your liking on your burger. This also comes with fried
jalapenos but I asked for them on the side. This dish comes with a side of
French fries which is accompanied with 3 different and unique dipping sauces.
The first is Ketchup and Chipotle sauce, the second is Mayo
and herbs, and the final one is Mustard and . They all are really yummy and I
even dipped my fries in the mustard mixture and then into the mayo mixture and
it was pretty darn tasty. I would definitely recommend this burger if you
happen to be there. The BBQ sauce isn’t thick or too sweet it’s actually just
right. All these flavors mix well together.
JOSE: I went a bit more “high
class” with the lobster Mac n’Cheese ($18.99)
Unlike my sister, I was not impressed by my dish. The
biggest problem I had with it was the actually cheese of the dish. I am a
person who LOVES cheese, and although the dish calls for cheese, it tasted
bland. I could definitely see the cheese but couldn’t taste it. This was an
unfortunate problem considering the portions of lobster where actually very
generous. Overall, I would not orsder this dish again especially for the price.
BUT, my over all dinning experience was still a rather positive one and I will
definitely look forward to being proven wrong by another dish on this menu.
Overall the food is a tad bit over priced. But you decide
for yourself. Here is the sum total of our night. &70.01 for three people.
TIPS
Like we had mentioned before if you are going to a show at
The House of Blues, by spending $20 on dinner there at Crossroads you are able
to get into the venue before the crowd and get priority standing for your show.
We actually got to stand in the very front of the crowd for the show because of
this deal.
